Artistic director and founder for Polaris Dance Theatre, Robert Guitron, was one of thirteen Oregon artists approved by the Oregon Arts Commission for the FY2011 Individual Artist Fellowship funding. The Oregon Arts Commission supports three grant programs and funds them through the State of Oregon and the Oregon Cultural Trust as well as federal dollars from the National Endowment for the Arts. As one of thirteen of three grant programs, Guitron is floored with humbling appreciation that he was considered and awarded for such an outstanding grant towards making visual art for the state of Oregon. As a native Oregonian and true artist visionary, Guitron sticks to his company's motto: "Polaris Dance Theatre believes that through dance, we awaken the heat and enhance our humanity."
